About Us
Shady Oaks was born from a passion for the outdoors, a love for culinary arts,
and a strong desire to provide fresh, specialty food to local communities through sustainable and organic farming methods.

We cultivate Oyster mushrooms of the highest quality using only the finest, locally sourced, organic wheat straw as substrate, and mushroom mycelium-colonized organic rye berries as grain spawn (seed). The only other material to touch our mushrooms is highly filtered water and tender loving care by the team here at Shady Oaks Organics.

Sustainable Production Methods
Our mushrooms benefit from highly-efficient equipment and cultivation processes that have a minimal impact on the environment. The mushrooms grow in a temperature- and humidity-controlled greenhouse with absolutely no use of fertilizers or pesticides. Strictly water is used for reliable, year-round production.
At the end of the growth cycle, our spent substrate is composted locally at
Colby Farm on Scotland Rd. in Newbury, MA.
